Wait a Minute!

happybirthday

Ah, it’s the last day of March and I’m hoping it goes out like a lamb!  I’m also hoping to get a good seat at the Hunger Games!! LOL  I’ve recently finished all the books in the trilogy and am looking forward to the first film.  Don’t tell me how it ends!  {wink!!} I received a sweet birthday gift from my bestie, Aimes, and couldn’t wait to ink up one of these delicious clocks and coordinating sentiments.  I picked the time that Timex always displays on their clocks :)  OR where my hands go on the steering wheel when driving in snow! LOL  The colour palette is courtesty of this week’s colourQ challenge.  I’ll leave you with a couple more cards that were published this past month in CARDS.

With Gratitude ~ CASE Study #84

with gratitude

Good evening!!  It’s the last week of March so we sadly say goodbye to Laura Bassen, our fabulous CASE Study Muse this month.  I know it’s not really goodbye, though, as I follow her blog and will continue to be endlessly inspired by her :)  For my card this week, I was inspired by the Mat Stack 3 and Blossom die shapes as well as the colour palette of red, pink and grey.  I had fun layering 2 different flower shapes to create one lovely blossom.

march29

So how are you inspired by this picture?  The colours, the negative die cuts, the sentiment?  Show us!!  Make a card and link it up over on the CASE Study blog!!  Can’t wait to see it!!  Hugs!

You’re a Real Wing Dinger!

geethanks

Good morning!!  I spent my last day of Spring Break making cards, doing laundry and watching the World’s Curling tournament :)  I played around with this week’s Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge and am happy with what came out on this card :)  I wasn’t sure about the 2 side squares so I went out of the box and had some fun with the large corrugated flower and bow!!  I flipped through my Labels sets and picked out the Number 5 stamps then found the perfect Back in the Saddle sentiment to fit!  I told you I am not finished with this set, not for a long while yet!  So what is a “wing dinger?”  Well, I’m the daughter of a cowboy so this phrase was not new to me.  According to the Urban Dictionary it means "sweet!" It's Irish of origin, referring to fairies that flew around with bells and were indentified with good luck. It is widely thought the wing dingers were the inspiration for Disney's Tinkerbell. Okay, so we’ve had Cowboy Glam and Cowboy Shabby…now we have Cowboy Pretty!  Thanks for stopping by and hope your week is starting out well :)

Good morning!  It’s the 25th and I had the chance to participate in the PTI blog hop this month.  We have an inspiration photo to work with and I’m loving the cream, blue, yellow and kraft colour palette :)  My first card showcases the gorgeous frilly flowers dies and stamps. This is a new favourite!  I also discovered that burlap makes fun leaves!!  I was reaching for felt one day and saw my scraps of burlap!! Eureka!!  Be prepared to see more of these lovelies!  Now I just couldn’t stop at one card and just received some fun vintage kits from Monika over in her Etsy store…seriously, so many little treasures!!

Thanks so Very Much

thankssoverymuch

Good morning!  It’s a beautiful sunny morning and I’m in the studio with some coffee and some cards to blog :)  I recently bought some washi tape on Etsy (Chickydoddle) via my dear friend, Michelle.  The purple tapes were the perfect colours for this week’s colourQ challenge.  I put a strip of tape onto some white card stock and die cut a banner shape out of it.  The turquoise banners are just paper.  I had buttons on all the banners, but it was too much so I settled on 2 light aqua buttons.  Oh, this makes me smile!  Love those colours!  Hope your Saturday is starting out well.  Thanks for visiting!!

Happy Birthday!!! I'm not one to normally celebrate St. Patrick's Day, but today I went to a winery where they were having Irish celebrations, so I drank some wine and ate a green cookie and listened to some nice music.

He Will Rejoice Over You

vlvmarweek4

Good morning!! It’s Friday and I’m celebrating with Diva Andrea over on the Viva La Verve forum.  The last Friday of each month is CAS week…hmm, not sure if I nailed that or not.  LOL  I picked out some of my new Authentique paper and went from there.  I also wanted to use this Verve Plain Jane that’s been waiting so patiently on my desk to be inked up.  This card will be making its way to my dear blog friend, Janelle, who continues to go through a difficult journey with brain cancer.  Please keep her in your prayers.  I think this scripture verse is so uplifting and powerful.  Now head over to the Viva La Verve forum for some fun chit chat and major inspiration in the VLVMar2012 gallery!

A Little Bird Told Me ~ CASE Study # 83

allthings

Good evening!  There’s another fun challenge starting tonight over on the CASE Study blog!  Our talented muse, Laura Bassen, is making us drool all over again with her next inspiration card…

march22

I wasn’t quite sure which way to go on this one other than the sentiment I was going to use.  I knew this Verve stamp from Bloom and Grow would be perfect! Then I leafed through all my patterned paper pads looking for the perfect polka dotted paper. I found this fabulous one in the MME Be Amazing pad.   I then saw my October Afternoon journaling cards in my “use next” organizer on my desk and found this sweet little card…then came the aqua flower.  I was looking in my felt drawer to make some leaves when I saw a scrap of burlap!  ACK!!  That would make cool leaves!! And it does!!  I actually ran them through the Big Shot with a leaf die!! LOVE THEM!!  Make sure you head over to the CASE Study blog to see what magic the Design Team have conjured up!!  That is one of my favourite things to see with each new challenge!! THEN play along!!  Thanks for visiting!!  If you haven’t seen my Blog Candy post, click HERE to enter!!

or should I be saying Kilometres away?  This saying got missed when Canada converted to the metric system!! ACK!!  I made this card for the My Favourite Things Wednesday sketch and just in time as today is Tuesday!! LOL  I love the little tag in the corner…it’s my first time using this MFT die…there are 4 altogether so you can pick which shape you like :)  The “hi” is actually from another sentiment in the You Move Me set…I just inked up the one word :)  This card is for all my blog buddies scattered around the world, whether you use the metric system or not!!  teehee!!  Hugs everyone!!  p.s. if you haven’t already, check out my Birthday Blog Candy!!  You have until Friday midnight (PST) to enter!

Congrats

congrats

Good morning!  It’s Monday and I’m having a lazy morning drinking coffee and blurfing (blog surfing).  I love the quiet of the morning and love it even more now that it’s Spring Break… the jammies can stay on a bit longer today :)  Today’s card uses this week’s Waltzingmouse Sketch.  As soon as I saw that flower in the sketch, I knew I wanted to layer up some doilies and add a flower.  I went to my decorative brad box and pulled out this sweet little button brad.  I love it when I find the perfect embellishment for a card (IMHO anyways!).  Is there anyone left who hasn’t heard about my Birthday Blog Candy?  LOL  There is still time to enter!! Click HERE for all the details :)  I’ll be drawing on Saturday morning :)  Thanks for stopping by!  Have a fabulous day :)

Friend(s)

Good morning!  Well, I’ve survived another birthday!!  The day after is always a little sad when my sidebar “Countdown to St. Patrick’s Day” resets itself to 365.  But I’ve got more surprises coming in the mail and am off this week so the celebrating will continue!  Today’s card is inspired by this week’s Moxie Fab World’s Tuesday Trigger photo…

Simple Elegance

How delicious is this room?  I was inspired by the colours and pattern and the medallion/doily shape over the fireplace.  Hope your weekend is going well and there are not too many green beer hangovers!! Waltzingmouse Blog Hop ~ Happy St. Patrick’s Day ~ Blog Candy!

St. Pat’s Fact: Much Irish folklore surrounds St. Patrick's Day. Not much of it is actually substantiated. Some of this lore includes the belief that Patrick raised people from the dead. He also is said to have given a sermon from a hilltop that drove all the snakes from Ireland. Of course, no snakes were ever native to Ireland, and some people think this is a metaphor for the conversion of the pagans. Though originally a Catholic holy day, St. Patrick's Day has evolved into more of a secular holiday.

wmsbloghop

Good morning and Happy St. Patrick’s Day!1 There’s a lot going on today so let’s get right to it!  First up, this sweet vintage-y card is for the Waltzingmouse Stamps blog hop.  It happens every month on the 17th and as luck would have it, that’s St. Patrick’s Day this month!! I share their love for this day so it was easy to make the required green/St. Patrick’s Day/celtic card :) I found a sweet little vintage Irish girl card and then added an Irish blessing to her.  I love the little shamrock tag hanging from the ribbon :)

Blog-Party-Logo[3]

As many of you know, it’s also my birthday!!  I feel so blessed having entered the world on this fabulous day!! Hence the Irish name, Maureen.  I am also 1/4 Irish on my Mom’s side :)  It’s not a party with out a goodie bag so I’m offering up a little treat to one lucky commenter on today’s post.  I’ve got 2 of my favourite Verve stamp sets (Feel the Sun, Better with You) and a bag of goodies…I’ll be going through the studio and filling a little bag with various embellishments (they’ll come in a plastic bag for shipping).

blog candy

All you have to do is leave a comment…a little birthday love, a great St. Patrick’s day story or maybe tell me what a good birthday wish might be as I blow out my candles today!  Also, leave an email address if your email is not turned on for comments, otherwise I cannot contact the winner.  I will post the winner’s name next Saturday morning, March 24th.  The winner will have 3 days to contact me if I cannot contact them or I’ll draw another name.  Thanks for stopping by and “May your blessings outnumber the shamrocks that grow.”

Good Luck!

St. Pat’s Fact: St. Patrick was born in 385 AD somewhere along the west coast of Britain, possibly in the Welsh town of Banwen. At age 16, he was captured and sold into slavery to a sheep farmer. He escaped when he was 22 and spent the next 12 years in a monastery. In his 30s he returned to Ireland as a Christian missionary. He died at Saul in 461 AD and is buried at Downpatrick.

Good morning!! EEK!! It’s the Friday before Spring Break, it’s the day before my birthday and St. Patrick’s Day and I’m the hostess over on the Viva La Verve Forum!!  I chose my favourite sketch from the Verve January Release :)  In honour of my favourite day, I used my Verve Lucky You stamp set and matching Shamrock die. I’ve stamped the sentiment onto the Curvy Bookplate die and layered that onto a journal card.

VLVMar12Week3Sketch

Here’s a rerun of the card I made in January :)

I so hope you’ll join us for this week’s sketch!!  Make sure you come back tomorrow for the BIG DAY!! If you’ve been here over the years, you’ll know I always have a birthday “goodie bag” to give away!! Woohoo!!
