Hi friends! There’s a new challenge just posted over on the CASE Study blog!  Sadly, after this week, we are saying goodbye to our amazing February Muse, Teri Anderson. As sad as it is each week to say adieu, it’s good to know our Muses are only a mouse click away on their blogs :)  Here’s Teri’s last card…

Oh, there are so many yummy elements on this one!  I went for bright colours, the speech bubble and a typewriter instead of a phone.  That cool Instagram typewriter photo is from Michelle Wooderson’s online store.  I’ve bought a card kit and several add on kits from her…love her style!  What are you loving about this card?  Head over to the CASE Study blog or visit each of the Design Team Members directly on their blogs below and then join in the fun!  Thanks for visiting!

Good morning!  Well, report card writing week has started so I made sure to save a few new Verve Release cards to share while I’m busy typing reports and eating jelly beans! HA!  I’ve had a small addiction to this polaroid frame lately, trying it out with different colours and embossing.  Today it’s black with white embossing! I pictured these gorgeous blooms from Surely Goodness spilling out of the frame, a little nod to Georgia O’Keeffe!  She made her flowers BIG so people would stop a moment from their busy lives and notice them :)  I hope these have made you do the same today and smile :)  Have a lovely Tuesday!

Friend to Friend ~ PTI February Blog Hop

Good morning!  Welcome to my post for the Papertrey Ink February Blog Hop.  Like last month, when I saw this month’s challenge, I thought I would “PASS!”  Then one night doing something totally unrelated, I decided to plug in “monogram” into a Pinterest search.  This lovely framed monogram came up…

{photo credit: Rosenberry Rooms}

Then I googled “monogram programs,” hoping a free monogram program would come up.  I didn’t keep looking after seeing a site explaining how to make one in Word!  Perfect!  The trick is to enlarge it to 150 and use a light ink colour.  I’ve used gray at less than 25%.  Thanks so much for stopping by and for all your lovely comments.  I’m looking forward to seeing all the different ways to use monograms and will definitely be using them again :)  Hugs!

Look Out World! (and a Giveaway!)

girlyyourockmaureenplut
Hey friends!  I have a super fun post this morning!  I’m sure few, if any, of you followed the Canadian Junior Women’s Curling (hand up, though, if you did! LOL).  We here in Kamloops sure did as our hometown girls sailed through the round robin and WON the championship that sees them travel to Russia this weekend to compete at the World’s Junior Women’s Championship.  Here’s our team consisting of these sweet and awesome 17 year olds…
teamcanada AND here’s our first hometown team that won 31 years ago…Team Plut (my sister from Texas!).  I went with them and turned Sweet 16 in Winnipeg!  It was impossible to find the photo on the internet so it’s been scanned from the original that hangs in my parents’ home on the family wall.  That’s my sister on the far left.  They look a little exhausted! LOL

Okay, back to this card…one of our Teacher on Calls, who enjoys buying my cards at work, approached me this past week asking if I make commissioned cards.  Yes, if I can :)  She told me she knows one of the players on our Team Canada and was wanting to give her a card before she left for Russia.  Well, she asked the perfect person! LOL  I’m a devoted curling fan AND my sister won the same championship 31 years ago!  LOVE the connection!  I’m telling you, I had SO much fun creating this card!  I was in that zone where the creative juices were flying and the smile never left my face.  I knew I was going to use Dawn’s sentiment from her Signature Greetings set, but when I found the “Look Out World” stamp in Verve’s To the Moon, I shrieked in delight!  How perfect is that?  I bet these ladies never dreamed their stamps would be used for a curling card! LOL Are you still with me?  Okay, here are the giveaway deets.  In honour of our Kamloops girls heading off to the World’s Junior Curling Championship, let’s have a little stamp giveaway.  I’ve got 4 fun and whimsical sets from Clearly Besotted Stamps to giveaway (see stamps below).

All you need to do is leave a comment below telling me the 3 curling references on my card (the Canadian ribbon and Look Out World are not included).  I’ll pick a winner next Sunday around noon.  Please make sure I can contact you or come back next Sunday to see if you are the lucky winner.  The winner has 3 days to contact me or I’ll pick a new one.

Good luck and good luck, Team Canada!

p.s.  I showed my sister the card and she found the references in 5 seconds! LOL  She’s still got it!

Verve Release Day!!

happyanniversarymaureenplut
Welcome to the final day of our February 2013 Spotlight Hops!  Everything you’ve seen all week is now available in Verve's online store! Woohoo!
I’ve got two projects to share today!  I’m using Diva Janelle’s Viva La Verve sketch to ink up the new Happy Anniversary Plain Jane.  I love the mix of fonts on this one!  I also wanted to show you how perfectly it fits in the Curvy Bookplate die!  There’s some more of that luscious new Spring Fling seam binding!  Really, you need to try it out!  Next up is a little 3D project using a mini canvas I picked up at Michaels after Christmas.
wellwithmysoulmaureenplut
I didn’t like the light wood of the frame, so I inked it up with some Stampin’ Up’s Chocolate Chip ink.  Then I went to town on the canvas, sponge daubing 3 ink colours to create a warm, sunny base.  Then I stamped the blossoms from Surely Goodness with SU’s Starfruit ink and dried it with my embossing heat gun.  I stamped the sentiment with Versafine’s onyx and dried it as well with my heat gun.  A few embellishments and this sweet little 3 x 3 canvas is ready to uplift any weary spirit :)

Sunshine for My Soul ~ CASE Study #129

mysunshinemaureenplut

Good evening! There’s a new challenge just posted over on the CASE Study blog!  Our amazing February Muse, Teri Anderson, is getting our creative juices flowing with this stunner of a card…

feb21#129

I loved the “sunshine” sentiment, the blossoms and the slanted strips of colour.  I put all my little strips together and then stamped some doodled blossoms in versamark.  Then I took those same blossoms, inked them up and then cut them out so I could pop them up for some dimension :)  What are you loving about this card?  Head over to the CASE Study blog or visit each of the Design Team Members directly on their blogs below and then join in the fun!  Thanks for visiting!

Verve Sneak Peek Spotlight Hop ~ Day 2

solovedmaureenplut

Welcome to the second day of our February 2013 Spotlight Hops!  Today we're shining our Verve spotlights on the new stamps So Fluttery, Shining Star and Beautiful PJ.  Each of the release team Divas below has posted her first look at these new stamps today. Everything you see previewed along today's hop will be available in Verve's online store on Friday, February 22.

When I looked at the So Fluttery set, I couldn’t help but pick out some super Springy colours and paper!  I pulled out 5 strips of paper and played around until I liked the look of them together.  The butterflies in this set coordinate with the Flutterby die!  I’ve used a line butterfly image in dark pink and then the matching solid image in light pink!  Love the 2 step stamping of this set!  See that seam binding?!  Yep, there’s a new collection coming this week, Spring Fling!  It’s a wonderful mix of Spring colours and it ties like but-tah!

Welcome to the first day of our February 2013 Spotlight Hops!  Today we're shining our Verve spotlights on the new stamps Remember This, Calendar Countdown and Smile Plain Jane. Everything you see previewed along today's hop will be available in Verve's online store on Friday, February 22.

Our Spotlight sets today are perfect for scrapbooking, Project Life or card making!  As soon as I laid eyes on these stamps, I thought of my husband and our wedding pictures.  Then I was playing around with numbers and “24/7” popped into my head :)  Picking a husband is kind of like picking tile for a back splash…lol.  You’ll be looking at it everyday so you better love it! {insert cheeky laugh here}! HA!  And that’s just what I did.  He’s handy AND handsome!  This will be perfect for our Anniversary coming up in July :)  And I’ll get to enjoy in the studio until then!

Guests in Da Studio ~ Part 2!

IMG_6397
Hi everyone!  Well, I can finally share my next installment of “Guest in the Studio"!”  My sister and her family stayed with us this Christmas and we had so much fun with a full house :)  Lots of coffee, dessert for breakfast, wine and cozy times by the fire were had!   I introduced my sister’s kids, my youngest niece and nephew, here on the blog last summer on THIS POST HERE.  They have come to love making cards in my studio so it was a must this time seeing as they were staying with us.  It didn’t take long for the creative juices to flow.  I had asked them to think of the person(s) that wanted to make a card for.  One of my older nephews got engaged Christmas morning so Jack wanted to make an engagement card complete with a photo them.  Lucky for him/me I’ve done photo cards before! So we lifted a picture of the happy couple off of Facebook!
IMG_6393
Here’s Jack picking the perfect spot for the heart button :)  Meanwhile, Ava was working on a card meant for her mom (at least at the time it was!).
IMG_6396
Ava knows what she likes as soon as she sees it.  She had definite ideas of what she wanted on her card including these two hot pink flowers.
IMG_6394
And here are the proud card makers!
IMG_6399
And, of course, one with Aunt Moe :)
IMG_6402
Do you have guests in your studio!?  I’d love to hear about them!  Thanks for being virtual guest in da studio!  LOL  Be sure to come back tomorrow for some Verve Sneaky Peeks!  Yes, there’s a new release just around the corner! Woohoo!

p.s. My nephew and his fiancée LOVED the card!  In fact, my nephew said his future MIL said her handmade card was out done by a 10 year old! LOL

Always and Forever ~ WMS Blog Hop

alwaysandforevermaureenplut

Good morning!  I’m happy to say that I had enough time this week to play along with the Waltzingmouse Blog Hop!  Since they retired their Sketch Challenge, I’ve gone through a little WMS withdrawal so it was fun to crack open some of my favourite sets and get inky!  The challenge this month is doilies!  Woohoo!  Enter my new to me pack of vintage doilies I picked up at a second hand store a few weeks ago.  I folded it in half making a taco sandwich with some beautiful pink floral paper then stitched around the patterned paper.  I also added a sweet little crocheted flower that reminds me of a wee little doily :)  AND my card is sitting on a doily!  LOL  Thanks for stopping by!  Can’t wait to see all the gorgeous doily projects!  The next WMS hop will be on my Birthday!  Woohoo!

A True Love Story Never Ends

How true!  And my love for Fridays never ends as well!  LOL  Good  morning!  It’s Friday and I’m starting the weekend off right with a card for the new Viva La Verve challenge over on the VLV forum :)  Diva Charmaine is our hostess this week and she’s got a super sweet layout for us.  When I took my cards to work a few weeks ago, a volunteer mom saw them and asked if I could bring in a few anniversary cards.  So I got to work to make a few and this was one of them.  I kept it neutral with a few sparkly details and some gorgeous white seam binding ribbon.  A must on all my wedding and anniversary cards!  LOL  Have you been playing with all the Viva La Verve Sketches this month?  You’ll want a chance to win that $100 gift certificate to the Verve Store.  There’s a sale on right now AND there’s a release coming up next Friday.  Head over to the VLV forum to see how you could win that Gift Certificate this month!  Have a wonderful day!
